Colorado man arrested for drunk driving, throwing keys at officer's ...

A man is facing serious charges after being pulled over Tuesday. The man allegedly threw his keys at an officer's groin after the officer asked the man to turn off his vehicle. He is now facing drunk driving charge, as well as unsafe lane changing, resisting arrest and second-degree assault. These charges could lead to more than just a fine and driving restrictions.

Many times, people who are arrested for one crime might easily be charged with additional crimes. This increases the possibility of jail time and a person being convicted on at least one charge. Since once charge might lead to more serious ones, it might be wise for those who are accused of a crime to speak with a criminal defense attorney. An attorney can help a person understand their rights.

These rights might include not having to share certain information with the authorities. An attorney can advise a person of their legal rights and options. Police reports often only give the officer's point of view on the situation, and it is important that those accused of crimes have a chance be defended.

Sometimes during arrests, an officer may not follow proper policy. This could be a violation of the accused person's rights. If someone's rights are violated during an arrest or investigation, some or all of the charges might be dropped depending on the unique situation of the accused. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help someone ensure their rights throughout the entire legal process.
